snowball M@x!M@x's Winter World

We all know that winter is the coldest time of the year (and brrrr!, I have to wrap up warm in my patterned mittens and hoodie) but have you ever thought what it can be like in other parts of the world? I went down to the library last week. Here are a few things I found out:

In DENMARK it can be really cold and people have been known to be cut off (this happens in Devon too). Do you know what they do to rescue people? They send in the Danish Army with armoured personnel carriers to help. Cool or what?!

RUSSIA is a huge country and would cause all sorts of problems for a sun – loving dog like me - my snow goggles would freeze onto my eyes and my fine nose would end up with icicles hanging from it Ugh! In parts of the northern Russia with temperatures of -35 C, they have dug up big hairy elephants called mammoths from the ice, perfectly mammothlike with their fur and inside bits after well over 10000 years! Wow! Mind you, I wouldn’t fancy a Russian mammoth burger, would you?

In AUSTRALIA winter is back to front. We are dressed in woollen everything and the Aussies are sitting on the beach enjoying themselves without scarves, bobble hats and those fingerless mittens that don’t keep your fingers warm.  Imagine a kangaroo dipping its nose into your favourite box of mints!

Little Flake

In places like Canada and Norway the sun stays away all day as well as all night. It hides behind the horizon – well, it’s still there or it would be so cold that we’d all freeze and The Zone would grind to a halt. You’d wake up and look through your window at 8.00 and there would be nothing… well, lots of dark. I hope they have street lights in these places or I wouldn’t find my school, dentist, or even my friend’s house, the skate park or the office where I tell people what to put on this website.

Hey, it’s no wonder so many people go on holiday to hot places like Spain, Greece or Turkey!

Anyway just in case we do get a cold snap here (I so hope it snows) mum's going to get some DVDs from the library for us to watch over the hols. Click the pic above to 'read' my latest comix - see you in the library soon and don't forget to wrap up warm.
