Cathedral Archives

Exeter Cathedral Archives, Diocesan House, Palace Gate, Exeter, EX1 1HX.

The Cathedral Archives are located in the Cloisters.  Access is via a door opening from the Cathedral Refectory.

The archives of the Dean and Chapter of Exeter which are held in the Cathedal Archives survive from Anglo Saxon times to the present day. The Cathedral Archives holds documents concerning the Cathedral itself, the building and its staff. It also holds records of property, formerly owned by the Dean and Chapter and the Vicars Choral in Exeter, which was in scattered locations throughout Devon and Cornwall. The property holdings also included a few estates in other counties.
