Research and Information

Devon County Council has commissioned a number of pieces of research including:

State of Agriculture in Devon (2003)

Impact of CAP reform on Devon's Agriculture (2004) image - PDF icon (3.71MB - pdf help)

Agricultural Change and Farm Incomes in Devon (2006) image - PDF icon (229KB - pdf help)

We want to ensure we use tax payer’s money wisely to invest in this sector so we can make changes that will really benefit producers and the economy and help local people to access fresh, healthy food.

This is why we conducted a food infrastructure study in 200 image - PDF icon (494KB - pdf help)7 to identify where local government intervention is needed most

This study interviewed producers, retailers and consumers across the county  and identified that the key areas that producers need assistance in are IT and public procurement.

For more information about what we are doing in these areas, visit: IT for producers and local sourcing in the public sector.

The following organisations and networks can assist with research and information related to the farming industry in Devon:

Part of the University of Exeter, the Centre undertakes academic research across a wide range of rural issues.

Rural Futures
A 'community of practice' within the University of Plymouth, linking academics with each other and with practitioners, to the benefit of those living and working in rural areas.  Rural Futures does this by producing newsletters, holding events, and disseminating information.

Rural Enterprise Gateway - knowledge transfer
