How to guide

How to Guide – Homepage

We have tried to make this site easy to navigate and friendly to all levels of internet users. If however you need assistance we have produced this guide to provide you with some help.

Features

We have introduced a larger features space which allows us to keep you up to date with the important issues in Devon plus any information we think you might find useful.

You can scroll through each feature by clicking on the coloured boxes located on the side.

homepage features

Once you clicked on a new item the image and text will change to match. This will also change the colour scheme of the homepage. So if the item you chose was Blue the site will change to have a Blue colour scheme.

Content boxes

Each item of information on our homepage is now contained in a box. These boxes can be moved around to create your own homepage.

Content Box

When you move content on your page, a placeholder will appear, outlining where the content can be placed.

  • Select the title bar at the top of the box that you wish to move.
  • Drag and drop your content on an area of the page.

You can also minimise each box to manage the space on your homepage. To achieve this you simply click the upward facing arrow on the top right hand corner of the box. To maximise back to normal click on the downward facing arrow in the same location.

Customise

The new design allows you to create your own, personal home page with content you have chosen.

You can add and remove content, so that the information you see is the information you want.

To access the customise options click on the ‘Customise’ button on the top right hand corner of the homepage.

Customise button

This will bring up a menu that will allow you to select the content you would like.

Customise menu

Once you have chosen your preferred content click Save and the homepage will now display your updated information.

My Favourites and My Recently viewed

We have also introduced two new ways to navigate around our site in the left hand menu. These are called ‘my favourites’ and ‘my recently viewed’.

My Recently Viewed      My Favourites

My recently viewed displays the last five pages you have viewed on our website. This allows you to keep track of where you have visited and move about the site more freely.

My favourites allows you to save your most commonly used pages as favourites so you can access them immediatly from any page. To add the page you're on to your favourites simply select the link at the bottom 'add this page'. If you want to remove a page all you need to do is click the red cross to the right of the link you want removed.

If there is anything else you would like adding to this guide please contact us and let us know.
