- Publicly accessible connection through to the High Street
- Lifts to improve access for pedestrians to Pannier Market
- Retention of Pannier Market but explore alternative uses (i.e. art house cinema, retail, office, live-work units or community/sports uses)
- Some buildings on the High Street to be internally restructured to facilitate development and a single storey unit on Grenville Street would be replaced by a more appropriately scaled building within the street scene
Livestock Market, Sport and Community Hub

Key development principles:
- Continue existing public access along riverside
- Provide a clear street connection to Victoria Park
- Create a sport and community hub within the park
- Relocate Air and Sea Cadets, and Scouts, to new community buildings adjacent to Sure-Start
- Relocate the skate park within a new multi-use games area
- Provide a mix of housing including affordable 2-3 storey family housing on the former Livestock Market
- Provide limited waiting public parking for those visiting the Council Offices at Riverbank House
Kingsley Road

Key development principles:
- Enhancement of the Kingsley Road approach into town
- Potential to accommodate a commercial cinema leisure facilities, food and drink franchises and public parking
- Provide new town houses to encourage family living close to the heart of town
- Relocated signal controlled junction with pedestrian phasing to access both the site and the Morrison’s superstore opposite to increase accessibility for all
The Pill

Key development principles:
- Create a positive gateway to town
- Create a space, which opens up views of the Depository building, and the Burton Art Gallery framed by office, retail and commercial development
- Strong (3-4storey) street frontage to Kingsley Road
- Front Ropewalk with mews cottages or small workshops to create secure pedestrian routes
